After a number of high-profile failures and countless indie attempts falling to the wayside, it’s surprising to see more up-and-coming studios try to break into the hero shooter space. Modoyo’s Heart Electric is looking, at the very least, confident enough, and soon you might be able to play it for a couple of days.
The fast-paced shooter pits 4 teams of 3 players against each other as they fight to obtain energy in maps which are built with acrobatic movement in mind. At the center of the gameplay are the abilities made possible by the Magnetic Flux, which allows heroes to manipulate metal objects, “soar through arenas,” and even trick their opponents.
Now, we’ve learned about a global playtest coming to PC via Steam (the only confirmed platform so far) on October 24-26. To get a chance to join, just head over to the game’s Steam page and click the playtest button. To take a quick look at the game in action and learn more about this opportunity to play it early, watch the latest trailer below:
According to the official press release, these are the features players can expect from the playtest:
- Full Magnetic Flux mechanics across three distinct arenas.
- Multiple playable heroes with unique abilities.
- Diverse primary weapons and fully customisable loadouts.
- Challenging team tactics in a brand-new competitive format.
- Global leaderboards to track competitive rankings.
Stockholm-based developer Modoyo is led by EA DICE veteran Niklas “Figge” Fegraeus (Star Wars: Battlefront II, Battlefield V). Heart Electric doesn’t have a release date yet.
