Tactical Adventure fantasy RPG Solasta 2 has been released in Early Access on PC, but will it be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or Nintendo Switch 2? GameWatcher goes on a quest to find out.
The sequel to 2021’s Solasta: Crown of the Magister is still cooking, with the first 10-15 hours of the game currently available to play on Steam in Early Access, but it’s already shaping up to be a great follow-up even in its embryonic state.
The game is a turn-based RPG that follows the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition (though it’s not a Dungeons & Dragons game). It is set on the continent of Neokos and follows the story of the four Colwall siblings, who set out to defeat a mysterious foe known as Shadwyn.
With only the first act out there presently, Solasta 2 will undoubtedly take some time to be feature-complete, but what is there has left RPG fans with a tantalising need for more.
Not just on PC either. Console players will be hoping Solasta 2 will eventually land on platforms of their choice so they too can fill a Baldur’s Gate 3-shaped void in their RPG-loving hearts. Does Tactical Adventures have any plans to release Solasta 2 on consoles? Let’s see what we know so far.
Solasta 2 PS5, Xbox Series X/S,and Switch 2 Release Status
As it stands, Solasta 2, in its current form, will not be on consoles. But there is some good news.
Tactical Adventures has confirmed there will be a Solasta 2 console release, but only once the game has launched its 1.0 version and exited Early Access.
The bad news is that it won’t be until at least 2027. The other question is, which formats will be supported? Well, the release of Solasta: Crown of the Magister might offer up some clues.
After launching on PC in 2021, Crown of the Register came to both Xbox One and Series X/S in July 2022. The PS5 would receive the game in March 2024. So with the likely exception of the Xbox One, we should get Xbox Series x/S and PS5 versions of Solasta 2 down the line. It’s unclear whether there will be a priority format, as last time.
But what about a Nintendo Switch 2 version? The hardware has run many modern heavyweight games, so it is on somewhat equal footing with the previous generation.
So far, there’s no confirmation on any console format, so we don’t yet know if Switch 2 will get in on the Solasta 2 action.
A notable difference this time is that Tactical Adventures has moved from Unity to Unreal Engine for Solasta 2. That might alter development plans for console versions. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we know exactly which platforms Solasta 2 will be on and when they’ll be available.
We’ll keep you updated on any new information regarding Solasta 2 on PS5, Xbox series x/S, or Nintendo Switch 2.
