Marathon’s Season 2 release date brings us a new set of content and rewards between its start and end dates, as the extraction shooter’s live service begins to find its footing.
Bungie treats Marathon’s Season 2 and its peers as opportunities to refresh gameplay through new gear, Runner shells, zones, events, and other surprises that “will be free for all players to access or earn–no expansions or DLC required.”
Marathon Season 2 Release Date
Marathon Season 2 start date is slated to occur at some point in June 2026, as confirmed by Bungie. Provided the developer manages to stick to its advertised three-month schedule, Season 2’s end date should then be slated for August or early September 2026.

Marathon Season 2 Content
Marathon’s Season 2 will be called Nightfall, and Bungie has teased some of the content we can expect to see when it goes live.
Narratively, it sees the “UESC […] stepping up their security measures and responding in force to your criminal activities.”
Marathon’s Season 2 will bring a nighttime version of Dire Marsh, alongside a brand new Runner shell. New weapons, mods, cores, contracts, and more are also coming, so we should have plenty of new toys to try out.
“We’re also working on brand new systems that will change the way you play, plan, and progress throughout a season. For example, NIGHTFALL will introduce the Cradle, a new system designed to give you more autonomy over your Runner shell’s statistical strengths and weaknesses,” the developer wrote in the post linked above.
Marathon’s Season 2 content will hopefully significantly contribute to the extraction shooter’s long-term evolution. More details about it should be shared over the coming months.
That covers what we know so far about Marathon’s Season 2 release, its start and end dates alongside the rewards and content it introduces.
