MMORTS Foxhole is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, marking the occasion with the massive Airborne update, which is slated to release in early February.
As its name suggests, on February 9, Foxhole’s Airborne Update completes the combined arms warfare puzzle through the addition of air warfare and logistics. But the strategy game’s next content drop includes much more, also throwing naval warfare enthusiasts a bone.
Foxhole Airborne Update Gets February Release Date
When Foxhole’s Airborne update goes live, we’ll be able to take squadrons of reconnaissance planes, fighters, bombers, and various other specialized aircraft into battle.
Each plane’s crew is comprised entirely of players, whether taking part in air-to-air battles, executing bombing runs, or swooping in to target and disrupt enemy supply lines.
Furthermore, an aircraft’s subsystems can be individually damaged during missions, making them less capable until they land and receive repairs.
Building and maintaining an air force involves constructing and controlling airfields, hangars, and construction buildings, which are also operated by players, doubling down on Foxhole’s dedication to representing wartime minutiae.
Radar installations help spot enemy air attacks, while deployed anti-aircraft weaponry is vital to defend against raids.
Foxhole’s Airborne update also brings paratroopers, enabling deployments behind hostile lines that disrupt enemy logistics and sabotage infrastructure.
Over on the naval side, the aircraft carrier is described as “the largest ship in the fleet,” allowing aircraft to conduct offshore missions.
When Foxhole’s Airborne update releases in February, it also upgrades environmental visuals, adds new regions, as well as new ship classes, ushering in “a new era” for the MMORTS.
