Monster Hunter Wilds is expanding its roster of hostile creatures with a fearsome new addition when Title Update 4 releases next week. Starting on December 16, we can test our skills against legendary elder dragon Gogmazios, which publisher and developer Capcom describes as “covered head to tail in a viscous black liquid, with a large weapon embedded in its back.”
This massive opponent can be tackled by parties of up to eight hunters (four players and four support hunters). His quest becomes available fairly late in the game, after reaching Hunter Rank 100 and completing the main mission titled A First Cry.

When Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4 releases next week, it will also introduce Gogma Artian weapons.
This feature allows us to upgrade rarity 8 Artian weapons even further by using materials obtained from Gogmazios himself. In addition to retaining their existing reinforcement bonuses, these weapons also come with a bonus skill as well as a randomly chosen group skill, making them potent additions to our arsenal.
Another notable challenge comes in the shape of Arch-tempered Jin Dahaad, which anyone who has reached Hunter Rank 100 can tackle.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4 also adds Armor Transcendence as a feature available after hitting the same rank. It “raises the limits imposed on Armor Sphere upgrades and powers up the decoration slots of rarity 5 and 6 armor,” which is bound to come in handy when tackling the most challenging opponents.
New optional quests are also on the way, pitting us against “multiple 9-star monsters” and rewarding special nameplates.
Furthermore, three new support hunters enter the fray in Monster Hunter Wilds’ Title Update 4. Nadia and Nightmist both wield light bowguns, while Griffin is a skilled great sword user.
Meanwhile, the Festival of Accord: Lumenhymn is set to kick off on December 19, giving the Grand Hub a makeover while adding login bonuses, “a seasonal meal, special new equipment, gestures, and pop-up camp decorations.”
Capcom has noted that although Title Update 4 is “the final large-scale update for Monster Hunter Wilds,” it will keep “releasing patches to improve the stability of the Steam version, as well as releasing a final update in February adding a new Arch-tempered variant.”
It’s unclear at the moment if this means the end of the road for the latest entry in the series or if an expansion – not officially announced but expected by the community – will be revealed soon.
While we wait for official confirmation, Gogmazios and company should keep us busy chasing new gear in Monster Hunter Wilds over the holidays.
