New world features an interesting respawn mechanic in the form of camps. If you die within 500m of your campsite you get to respawn there instead of at the nearest settlement, which is useful if you’re fighting challenging opponents that you feel you may not be able to overcome.
The camps also allow you to rest to regain your health and come with various wilderness utilities. Each camp tier increases what you can do with them, so let’s see what each level unlocks and how you can upgrade your camp in New World.
New World Camp Tiers - How to upgrade your camp and the max tiers to reach
To start with, each tier is locked to your character level and an associated quest given by various survivalist NPCs throughout the world. Each quest will increase your camp tier by 1, and if you miss a quest you can do them in any order you like.
Tier 1
- Level 5
- Basic rations and Flint tools
- Fish/Meat Baits
- Weak Health/Mana Potions
- Common Corruption/Blight Potions
Tier 2
- Level 15
- Travel Rations
- Common Health/Mana Potions
- Strong Corruption/Blight Potions
Tier 3
- Level 25
- Light Meals
- Strong Health/Mana Potions
- Powerful Corruption/Blight Potions
Tier 4
- Level 40
- Satisfying Meals
- Powerful Health/Mana Potions
- Infused Corruption/Blight Potions
Tier 5
- Level 55
- Hearty Meals
- Infused Health/Mana Potions
Once you’ve unlocked your first tier of camp, you can place one anywhere in the world outside of towns and landmarks for 5 Green Wood and 1 Flint. This cost remains the same for all tiers.
Bear in mind that you can also set your respawn point to any camp you come across in the wild. This means that even a level 1 player could use a tier 5 camp if they find it lying around. This feature is also very useful as it often saves you from building your own camp when you just want to create a quick respawn point or rest your health.
