Nier: Automata’s rich arsenal of death-dealing weapons is instrumental in slashing and blasting through hordes of robots and witnessing its existentialism-heavy story. It’s quite possibly the last game in which you’d expect to see a Marvel hero, but if you’re desperate for this unlikely crossover, a Captain America Shield mod has now been released into the wild.
Nier: Automata’s Captain America Shield mod takes its place in the vast pantheon of modifications that make use of retexturing to change the appearance of one weapon to resemble that of another.
The two weapons from the base game that can be morphed into a round but equally deadly vibranium shield are Ancient Overlord and Angel’s Folly. The former is a small sword purchased from the Weapons Dealer in the Resistance Camp.
The latter is a bit trickier to obtain, since it’s part of a small but random pool of items found in Emil’s Shop, during one specific spawn pattern.
Installing Nier Automata’s Captain America Shield mod is as easy as downloading it from Nexus Mods and extracting the files at the following location: X:\NieR - Automata\data\wp.
Since a full crossover with Marvel’s Avengers, as both games are published by Square Enix, doesn’t look too likely at the moment, this mod could remain the best way to reunite 2B and Captain America for a while.
