Planet Coaster 2’s update 8 has set its release date to December 4, 2025, publisher and developer Frontier Developments has announced, bringing us a dose of festive cheer just in time for the holidays alongside several other goodies and changes to spice up our time managing our parks.
Alongside festive scenery building pieces, animatronics, and signage to make our parks cozier, Planet Coaster 2’s update 8 also introduces two new seasonal weather conditions alongside general improvements to weather.
Planet Coaster 2 Update 8 Release Date
Snow will now fall, “bringing with it cold temperatures and the potential for frozen pools,” while thunderstorms bring both rain and lightning, the latter potentially causing issues should it strike our parks.
These changes to weather also add new guest needs to manage, such as “warmth, dryness, and sun cream.”
When it releases in early December, Planet Coaster 2’s update 8 also adds scalable animated scenery alongside the spring moving platform.
More blueprints are also on the way, including a selection from the original as well as new options for the sequel’s flat rides.
Owners of the Sorcery Pack DLC can look forward to the Vector Child Coaster and the Hold Dual Direction Piece, the latter making rides a bit more exciting.
Several coasters in the base game are getting different track variants. Updates and tweaks to both ticket price calculations and the wear rates of rides and utilities are also planned.
Scenery prestige also sees some adjustments. Each scenery piece has reduced impact, but an increased effective radius should give them “a more balanced impact on rides.”
The water flow heat map should now provide a clearer view of how water is distributed across parks, while guests will now leave pools to satisfy pressing needs, rather than experience high levels of despair while wet.
The list of changes coming when Planet Coaster 2’s update 8 releases on December 4 extends further. Check them out in the video embedded below.
