Rage 2 is out this week and it's excellent, and unlike the first Rage it features a massive open-world that you can explore at your leisure. While it's fun to drive around the wasteland, at some point you'll want to get around more quickly. Perhaps the most important question is then, is there Rage 2 Fast Travel?

How the Rage 2 Fast Travel system works
Given that Rage 2 is set over a big open-world map, it's natural to hope that there is some sort of Fast Travel system in place to get around quickly, so we don't have to drive everywhere. The good news that there is indeed a Rage 2 Fast Travel system, although it's not quite as expansive as some other open-world games - like Skyrim or Avalanche's own recent Just Cause 4.
Players can only fast travel to specific Trade Posts in the game. These include:
- 1. Towns such as Gunbarrel or Wellspring
- 2. Mutant Bash arenas
- 3. Racing Derby courses</b>

These can be found throughout the game. You'll get several as part of the main story (you'll have to visit three towns to meet your main contacts, for example) but others you'll have to find yourself. The very south-western region of the map, Dune Sea, for example - there's a town right in the centre of it, Oasis, that you'll have to seek out if you want Fast Travel in that region.
The biggest surprise is that there doesn't seem to be any fast travel points for the game's starting region, Twisting Canyons. You can't fast travel to the starting area of Vineland as there's no trading post there. You can't travel to Dr Kvasir's lab directly, which is annoying because he's in the middle of nowhere. You also can't fast travel to Vending Machine locations, which is a shame. Consequently the Fast Travel points in Rage 2 are a little scattered about. Still, it's nice to have them at all.
