Following a surprise announcement, Raji: Kaliyuga has quickly become one of our most anticipated action-adventure games, especially after the pleasant journey the first game, Raji: An Ancient Epic, was. Here’s everything we know about Nodding Heads Games’ new ambitious project.
The independent studio based in Pune, India, found lots of critical acclaim and financial success with the first Raji game, which had an approach to action-adventure gameplay and mythological worldbuilding that made the player feel small in comparison to the massive canvas of the story. With Raji: Kaliyuga, we’re now looking at a substantial genre shake-up and more mature visuals, yet we know it’s a direct sequel. Find out all we know about it right here.
Raji: Kaliyuga Release Date
Nodding Heads Games hasn’t set a release date (or window) for Raji: Kaliyuga yet despite its impressive reveal trailer. If we go through Shruti Ghosh’s (Co-founder, Art, and Narrative Director) chat with Xbox Wire, there’s confirmation the game is “still a little ways off.”

Raji: Kaliyuga Story
“Raji: An Ancient Epic was never intended to be a standalone story,” Ghosh has said of the studio’s vision for Raji and that world beyond the original game. Raji: Kaliyuga’s story begins six years later, with the “ancient asura warlord” Mahabalasura unsealing the heaven’s doors and starting a war which involves all realms.
The substantial time jump also means Raji has now become a “seasoned warrior” ready to embark on a new journey. She won’t be alone, however, as her younger brother Darsh (a “young dreamwalker haunted by visions of past and future”) joins the adventure to the Eternal Summit and through various realms.
Raji: Kaliyuga Gameplay
Raji: Kaliyuga is a traditional action-adventure game which sticks closer to the classics, unlike its predecessor, which worked with a more distant camera (generally isometric) and “painterly visuals.” This time around, Nodding Heads Games dared to venture into the more mature third-person adventure space, with heavy emphasis on darker visuals and more hard-hitting combat.
“Raji, the warrior of faith, and Darsh, the dreamwalker” are the dual protagonists in Kaliyuga. Raji “employs acrobatic martial arts and wields the divine Trishul.” Meanwhile, Darsh has a more mage-like set of powerful skills; he can use “Siddhis to manipulate gravity, time, and energy.”
Though the developers are teasing distinct story sections for each character and very different play styles, it may be a while before we get a proper look at how it all comes together. We’ll be updating this article with the latest news and comments on gameplay, story, and more as they come.
Raji: Kaliyuga Price and Platforms
No price tag for Raji: Kaliyuga has been set yet, as we don’t even have a tentative release window for it. However, we do know it’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC (Steam, Xbox & Epic Games Store).
The game will also support Xbox Play Anywhere and launch into Game Pass day one.
Raji: Kaliyuga Trailers
Only one Raji: Kaliyuga trailer has been released so far, and it might be a while before we see the sequel in movement again. Its reveal was in-game, but the developers went for a cinematic look versus a gameplay showcase:
