Remedy has released its financial results for the third quarter of 2023, revealing not only the company’s current financial standing but also sharing valuable insights on a variety of its forthcoming projects.
These projects include Control 2, Condor, and Codename Vanguard. Additionally, there is news regarding Alan Wake Remastered; the game has successfully recouped its development and marketing costs within this quarter.
It was too early to discuss the sales figures pertaining to the commercial success of Alan Wake 2. However, Remedy highlighted the game’s outstanding critical acclaim and expressed confidence that it has established a “strong basis for good long-term sales”.
What was said about Control 2, Condor and Codename Vanguard?
Control 2 is still in the proof-of-concept stage, and it’s likely to stay at this stage of development for the next few quarters. “The plans for this sequel are ambitious, and we have seen good progress both in the designs and in the game build. We focus on proving the identified key elements before moving to the next stage and scaling up the team.”
Condor has made significant progress and is on the verge of entering the “production readiness stage.” Remedy has stated that through this process, it has acquired “valuable insights in the creation of service-based games,” positioning the company to develop a game capable of captivating and engaging players for many years to come.
Codename Vanguard is still a long way off, but Remedy did mention that it’s “defining the next stages of the project with our publishing partner”. It’s likely that the project will complete the proof-of-concept stage by the end of the year.
There’s some good news about the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2, which have progressed into the production readiness stage. “We have gained clarity on the style and scope of the game, and we have an exceptionally well-organized team working on it.” said Remedy.
Now that the development of Alan Wake 2 has concluded, it is probable that a portion of the team will be reassigned to these upcoming projects. Meanwhile, a more compact team will remain focused on delivering updates and developing two additional announced DLC expansions for Alan Wake 2. The first patch was released yesterday, if you missed it.
Our review for Alan Wake 2 will be landing soon, so keep an eye out for that. We wanted to spend a little bit more time with it before reaching our conclusion, but it’s coming this week.
