The game hasn’t been out a week yet, but there’s already a Resident Evil: Requiem VR mod available on PC.
The praydog VR mod gives players the option to experience the ninth entry in the survival horror series in virtual reality in third and first-person perspectives with Stereoscopic 3D.
The mod is compatible with the Meta Quest 3 headset, and exists so quickly because it builds on previous VR work in the RE Engine on PC.
Resident Evil: Requiem VR Mod Footage
You can see the VR mod in action via VRified Games’ YouTube video below. The footage starts about 2 and a half minutes in, in case you want to skip the opening preamble.
There’s no motion control support just yet, but the Resident Evil 4 Remake PC VR mod creator is currently working on it for Requiem.
We’ve had VR in recent Resident Evil games, but it’s largely been limited to PSVR and PSVR2 headsets. Requiem doesn’t yet have official VR support on any platform, but it wouldn’t be surprising if we hear it’s coming to PSVR2 down the line.
Resident Evil in VR really heightens the horror’s intensity. Whether it’s creeping around the Baker’s household, panicking at the sight of a giant mutant baby, or geeing yourself up to take on a Regenerador, the immersion in delightfully unsettling.
