Publisher and developer Aska Studios has announced an upcoming playtest for its debut roguelite third-person shooter Gang of Frogs, giving those who sign up for it their first taste of its blend of intense third-person action and deckbuilding elements.
Starting on Friday, December 5, and lasting for a whole week, until December 12, Gang of Frogs’ upcoming playtest puts us in the jackets of a group of distinctly shoeless, gun-toting amphibians, who take on hordes of opponents across a series of handcrafted worlds.

Supporting between 1 and 4 players, Gang of Frogs stands out thanks to its “historical cyberpunk” aesthetic, which slaps neon lights onto wooden ships while seasoning its Y2K-inspired world with stone skyscrapers and a colorful variety of alien flora.
The core of the experience revolves around using different weapons to blast many opponents to bits, however, we can also purchase cards during each run “to customize weapons, abilities, and modifiers with over 100 billion build combinations”
Gang of Frogs’ quick sessions accommodate busier gamers while its “extensive frog customization” ensures our amphibian mercenaries don’t lack style.
“This version of Gang of Frogs will still be very early, and therefore there will be unpolished, buggy and unfinished aspects to the game,” the developer explains. “We’ve been working hard to create a fun, unique gaming experience for solo and co-op play, so we encourage ganging up with your friends! You can also dive in solo if that’s your style.”

The developer aims to spend “at least one year” adding content to the third-person shooter before releasing its full version.
