Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now wrapping up an absolutely fantastic year of post-launch content (both free and paid), so all eyes are now on Saber Interactive’s Q1 2026 plans. December’s Community Update has given us a number of exciting teases.
The last update of the year arrived via the game’s official forums and Steam, highlighting the amazing 2025 the game has had and thanking the extremely passionate community for its support and continued feedback. Space Marine 2 is the rare AAA game that’s really being fleshed out over time alongside the diehard player base, and seeing the collaboration between developers and fans flourish has been a joy.
Now, it’s time to start thinking about Patch 12, which has been in the works for a while now. The next major content update will introduce the Techmarine class with the mighty Omnissiah Axe, a new Operation, new Battlefield Conditions for Stratagems, new Heroic Weapons, and technical improvements, among other things. On top of that, the Raven Guard and the Carcharodons are getting cosmetic DLCs included in the latest season pass.
There’s one more thing, and Saber has now unveiled what they wanted to do with the extra head customization options and new voicelines. The Blood Angels, Black Templars, and Space Wolves chapters will all get them with this new DLC pack (not included in the pass). More impressive is that it’ll be including “over 450 voicelines” that will also be localized for every language the game already supports. Now price tag has been revealed yet, but consider it an extra something for the most passionate WH40K fanatics.
The team is also teasing the first details on the next PvE mission: “It takes place on Avarax. Your squad will deploy to purge Xenos presence and help besieged Cadians. An iconic character from the Campaign will come back.”
Last but not least, game director Dmitry Grigorenko shared more hints on what to expect from next year’s updates (taken straight from the news post):
-
With the announcement of chapter specific heads and voicelines you can strike out “Something we said we are going to do, but nobody noticed” from the list of upcoming customization additions we’ve mentioned in September. We’re really happy to deliver what you have been asking for months now. Nevertheless, the other 2 hints still remain:
-
Something we should have done a long time ago.
-
Something we said we are going to do, but nobody noticed.
-
Something we said we are never going to do.
-
- We’ve adjusted our plans and decided to throw in a bit more free stuff than what the Y2 roadmap originally listed.
- The progression update item listed in the roadmap is going to be a whole new feature, we will talk about it closer to its release. On top of that we are going to expand the Datavault’s current Ordeal system next year.
- We are working on a lot of QoL things and sandbox improvements. For example, a highly requested feature of perk loadouts is in the works.
- Contested Health rebalance will happen alongside with Patch 13, but there are going to be a lot of minor QoL improvements before that to build a proper foundation first.
- Siege mode will get a big expansion of its sandbox gameplay and we have big plans for its second map.
From December 17 and until December 31, players can also obtain the Death or Glory left greave by launching the Stratagems mode and completing two weekly or daily Stratagems in any difficulty.
