The first month of 2026 is almost gone, and so we’ve received the year’s first Community Update for WH40K: Space Marine 2 straight from Saber Interactive.
Update 12 has been in the works for quite a while now, and with recent news it was nearing completion and being dropped on the PTS client and servers, everyone was hoping the January post would shed light on everything coming with this major content update.
That’s indeed the case, starting with an in-depth look at the Techmarine (though we recommend checking out a more focused recent post on the class) and his abilities and specializations. The Techmarine will be available across all PvE and PvP modes when Patch 12 drops alongside his unique Omnissian Axe melee weapon. Like all the post-launch playable content, he requires no DLC purchases.
The next PvE map (for co-op play) is named Disruption, and here’s the official description:
“Combat Squad Veridian must reinforce a battalion of Cadians besieged by a Tyranid swarm, when an urgent missive from an Ecclesiarchy Priest alerts them to a Thousand Sons ritual profaning a nearby Cathedral. Both onslaughts must be disrupted to prevent a domino effect that will jeopardise concurrent operations elsewhere on Avarax.”
Also coming with Update 12, we have two new cosmetic DLCs which are part of the Year 2 pass and have been teased for months now. Below is your first look at the Raven Guard Champion and Carcharodons Cosmetic Packs:
Extra additions coming with the patch are the following (the promised Battle Barge expansion is coming with a later update):
- 20 new modifiers for the Stratagems mode
- You can now swap the different Space Marine heads (for example, you can use the “Assault” default head on the Sniper)
- A new equipment has been added: the Restorative Stimms. It takes the slot of your Medicae Stimms, and it will provide a different way to heal your Space Marine’s wounds: instead of “burst” of heal, it will regenerate your HP overtime, and also generate contested health (up to 100% of your missing HP, which means you effectively can regen all of your missing HP when used correctly)
- 3 new Heroic Weapon variants for the Combat Knife (Fencing), the Heavy Bolt Rifle (Combi Grenade Launcher) and the Omnissian Axe (Fencing). Although the three Heroic Weapons were not part of the initial plan, we were so encouraged by your enthusiasm that we chose to add them to our roadmap.
Last but not least, a surprise Voice Pack DLC that was announced in December will also drop alongside the Update 12 and cosmetic DLCs at $4.99, including “over 450 voicelines” for each Chapter dubbed in all the audio languages that are already supported by the game. Real voice actors performed “each and every” line. No AI slop here, brothers.
