Base-builder StarRupture is launching in early access next January, developer Creepy Jar has announced.
The title will launch January 6th on Steam Early Access, with the original planned launch for Autumn of this year being untenable for the developer. This announcement comes after a two-week playtest in July that showed off what players can expect.
“We’re extremely pleased with the reception to the first open playtest of StarRupture. Our concept for this game is a unique blend of existing genres - base building, exploration, combat, and survival - and players clearly enjoyed it. We’re thrilled that players noticed and appreciated this fresh take on the genre and mechanics they know and love,” Creepy Jar CEO Krzysztof Kwiatek said in a press release.
StarRupture was first announced in 2023 and sees players put into the shoes of a prisoner serving their sentence on a different planet. Now, they have to figure out how exactly they’re going to survive because everything on this planet wants to kill you. Per Creepy Jar, the playtest had over 150,000 people trying the game out at one time, and the initial playtest was extended to two weeks after a planned two-day test thanks to more demand than the developer expected.
