Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition’s hotfix 1.01 has now been deployed, introducing the first small set of changes for the remastered real-time strategy classic.
More specifically, it aims to improve the multiplayer experience by addressing the frequent resync messages that kept popping up during matches.

Publisher and developer Firefly Studios shared the full list of changes in Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition’s hotfix 1.01 earlier today, via a post on Steam:
- Various Resync causes fixed
- Resync Panel will now appear less frequently
- Resync Panel is now smaller
The small number of tweaks isn’t all that surprising, given how it’s only been two days since the title launched, but its developer has confirmed that the first proper update is currently being worked on and expected to go live at some point next week.
In addition, it also identified an issue with playing multiplayer matches at higher speeds that you may want to keep in mind.
“We’ve noticed that playing Multiplayer games with the game speed significantly higher than default can cause instability if a players PC cannot sustain that speed. Please keep this in mind when setting multiplayer lobby speeds.”
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition’s hotfix 1.01 marks only the first step on a roadmap that also promises new content throughout 2025.
If you’ve yet to jump in, our review, should make a good enough case for why this remaster is a must-play for both series veterans and newcomers.
