Styx: Blades of Greed’s release date marks the return of everyone’s favorite stealthy goblin, as he sneaks and stabs his way through new environments while tracking down a mysterious power source called Quartz.
A third-person stealth-action adventure game published by Nacon and developed by Cyanide Studio, the third entry in the series is set “in a world on the brink of war between elves, humans and orcs,” exploring “the beginning of the Great War and the creation of the Black Hand,” a mercenary group that you may remember from 2012’s action RPG Of Orcs and Men.

Styx: Blades of Greed Gameplay
From a gameplay perspective, Styx: Blades of Greed sticks closely to the formula established by its predecessors, opting to refine rather than rework it.
Thus, freedom and creativity become “central to the experience,” as we get to explore “vast vertical environments” while using new tools and powers to outsmart, evade, or silently eliminate opponents.
Styx works for himself this time around and gets where he and his crew need to go using their very own zeppelin.
Styx: Blades of Greed lets us “roam freely around three vast open environments.” These include The Wall, “which marks the boundary of the human world,” the lush environs of Turquoise Dawn, an orcish village, as well as the Ruins of Akenash, the elven capital.
The ever-crafty protagonist has several useful tools at his disposal that help him throughout his heists. The glider opens new routes from above, while the grapple is perfect when you quickly need to reach otherwise inaccessible spots.
Walls are also less of a problem for this goblin, since he can scale them using his claws. Blades of Greed also leans into Metroidvania-style progression, with each tool unlocking previously unreachable areas.
A successful heist requires preparation, which is why we’ll need to craft weapons and potions that ensure we head in properly equipped.
Styx’s magical abilities then complement these more mundane tools, allowing him to clone or render himself invisible, but also mind control guards or prompt nearby goblins to eliminate foes on his behalf.
Styx: Blades of Greed Price and Platforms
Styx: Blades of Greed is set to release on PC via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Its price remains unknown at the moment, but publisher Nacon should share more details about it in the lead-up to launch.
