Sudden Strike 5’s release date thrusts us back into World War II, giving us control of both Axis and Allied armies and letting us relive a series of important battles that left their mark on the conflict.
The real-time tactics title’s impressive roster of units adds variety to the large-scale encounters we’ll take part in across Sudden Strike 5’s sprawling campaign, keeping things fresh while challenging us to adapt our approach to overcoming the various threats that await.

Kalypso Media and Kite Games have now confirmed that Sudden Strike 5’s release date is slated to occur on April 23, 2026.

Sudden Strike 5 Gameplay
Sudden Strike 5 inhabits the same real-time tactics space of its predecessors, boasting more than 300 playable, authentic units belonging to both sides of the conflict.
According to its publisher, we can expect “more than 190 vehicles and 110 infantry units – such as the Sherman tank for the Western Allies, the Messerschmitt Bf 109 for the German troops, and the T-34 for the Soviet troops,” so it’s safe to assume that we’ll get to control a fair few iconic ones over the course of its campaign, which spans 25 missions.
They take us across historical battlefields in both Europe and North Africa, promising “the highest unit counts ever seen in the series, setting the stage for large-scale tactical warfare.”
We’ll get to “choose our own tactics, units, and objectives to complete the mission goals,” which inlcude capturing and defending key locations like field HQs and train stations.
Customizable commanders allow us to lean into our preferred playstyle and tactics, “whether offensive, defensive, or more tactical,” unlocking abilities like deploying smoke grenades to cover advancing or retreating units or boosting the accuracy of artillery.
Sudden Strike 5 launches with “extended camera options” that allow us to “zoom out for full strategic oversight or zoom in for a closer look at the frontline action, giving you better control over every aspect of the battlefield.” Furthermore, weather conditions leave their mark on its gameplay.
