Tenebris Somnia is mixing 2D retro survival horror adventure DNA with live-action cutscenes directed by filmmaker Andrés Borghi. It looks unlike anything we’ve played in recent times. Here’s everything we know so far about New Blood Interactive and Saibot Studios’ next game.
While the game will follow in the footsteps of the Silent Hill and Resident Evil series, it’s adapting that style of classical survival horror adventure to a 2D aesthetic reminiscent of the point-and-click adventures of old. Of course, the biggest twist is how you can get new information from an entirely different point-of-view: One presented through professional actors and practical effects.
Tenebris Somnia Release Date
New Blood Interactive and Saibot Studios are keeping the final release window under wraps for now, but we know the game is coming next year.

Tenebris Somnia Story
The trailers released so far are keeping things mysterious but adequately disturbing. Though it seems the plan is to reach the launch date having revealed as little as possible plot-wise, there’s a Steam demo you can play right now to get a taste.
At the time of writing, we can reveal the story follows Julia, a woman who’s tormented by dark nightmares. Eventually, she visits her ex-boyfriend, and things get much weirder when she can’t find him. Somehow, she enters a parallel universe where all kinds of monsters chase her. What’s the meaning behind all this, and why is her ex-partner missing? The Silent Hill vibes are strong with this one, but it’s safe to say it’s got a flavor of its own too.
Tenebris Somnia Gameplay
Unsurprisingly, New Blood Interactive and Saibot Studios haven’t revealed much about the specifics of the gameplay loop either. We know that it’s a survival horror and 2D adventure, however, so we can infer some features from the trailers that we’ve seen so far.
Combat in a basic form is in, as the player character is seen using a pistol and a shotgun against several monstrosities. Puzzles also appear to play a major role in different shapes, with the live-action sections likely giving us extra clues. And of course, exploration and running away from foes we can’t defeat will be the main course. It remains to be seen how everything comes together in the end, but Tenebris Somnia isn’t looking one-note or boring.
Tenebris Somnia Price and Platforms
Tenebris Somnia doesn’t have a price tag yet, but based on past New Blood-published games, we’re expecting it to be on the cheaper side.
On the matter of target platforms, we’re happy to confirm Tenebris Somnia will release on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
