Following a glowing Steam Early Access launch in August, Warcraft-inspired RTS The Scouring has quickly begun to push ranked seasons, and the latest patch rebalances heroes with competitive online matches in mind while also revising AI difficulty.
The patch notes (as well as the update itself) dropped yesterday, November 2, and while Orc Group has kept the list of changes on the short side, most of them are impactful. Before we dive into them, however, read what the developers had to say about how they’re approaching the November ranked season:
“The new November Ranked Season has begun, bringing a fresh challenge and significant updates. Sharpen your blades and your wits-this season will test your true strategic mettle. To ensure a fair and competitive environment, the “Reforged” game mod will be the obligatory mode for all ranked matches this season.”
The main balance and gameplay updates, as teased, affect the heroes and how their stats work plus the AI difficulty. Here’s the rundown:
- Here defense scaling won’t be affected by leveling up anymore. No more bonus defense gains in order to encourage tactical play and “smart engagements.”
- Hero stat rebalance to “accommodate” the major change to the defense stat. Of course, expect more changes in the future based on player feedback and date.
- AI difficulty tuning: The Easy AI level is less aggressive and more predictable in order to let new players learn the game better at their own pace. On the other hand, Hard AI is “more cunning than ever” and has gained the ability to purchase and use hero items.
On the visual improvements side of things, the lich model has gained a cape for extra fashion points. The developers also mentioned “various bugs” have been fixed, with some extra polish done on UI elements and visual effects, though the full details haven’t been shared.
To see everything that’s new and test the new changes as the November season begins, you can update and jump into the game now.
