Divinity Original Sin 3 isn’t being announced during this year’s The Game Awards, Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing Michael Douse has confirmed.
The last couple of days have been filled with speculation surrounding a potential reveal but, while a new cRPG in the series seems to be out of the question, Larian could still have something else cooking for fans.
Divinity Original Sin 3 Not Getting Announced During The Game Awards
At the end of November, Geoff Keighley posted a cryptic tweet of a statue teasing something likely related to The Game Awards, kickstarting a torrent of online speculation.
A new God of War, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, and other potential sequels were brought up until MP1st spotted recently registered trademarks for the Divinity franchise in Europe.
They include a logo that lines up with the glowing shape seen at night on the statue teased by Keighley.
The trademark itself only references Divinity and, while hopeful fans quickly began speculating that Original Sin 3 will be revealed during 2025’s The Game Awards, Larian’s Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, has clarified that it isn’t quite the case:
“There aren’t currently any plans for a new Divinity Original Sin 3 game but once we are ready to show what we’ve been working on we will,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, jokingly following it up with confirmation that the studio is also not working on a toilet simulator.
While it remains unclear what the statue is teasing, the registered trademarks could point towards a new entry in the studio’s action-RPG Divinity series, whose latest entry, Divinity II: Ego Draconis, launched back in 2009 before being given the Developer’s Cut treatment in 2012.
Whether it’s a fresh new entry or a remake of one of the older titles, we hopefully won’t have too long to wait before finding out.
