Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2’s release date pits the forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus against the Necrons once again in what is shaping up to be a bigger, deeper sequel to 2018’s acclaimed strategy game, now allowing us to control both sides of the conflict.
After the Adeptus Mechanicus unknowingly settles the Necron world of Hekateus IV, Magos Dominus Faustinius and his retinue are called upon to help maintain a foothold against the newly awakened threat of the Sankhotep dynasty.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2’s exact release date has yet to be announced, but publisher Kasedo Games has now confirmed that the turn-based strategy sequel is aiming for a spring 2026 release window.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 continues to offer the blend of strategic management and intense tactical battles the original is known for, while kicking things up a notch.
The sequel finally allows us to play as both factions, launching with two narrative campaigns that put us in control of the Adeptus Mechanicus and Necrons.
Led by notable figures and their retinues, which can be customized to enhance their combat capabilities, each faction boasts a distinct playstyle.
Magos Dominus Faustinius leads the Adeptus Mechanicus, his trusted advisors returning as deployable and upgradeable leaders, each with their own personality and battlefield specialisation.
In charge of the formerly sleeping Necrons, Vargard Nefershah is joined by a retinue of nobles who complement her varied roster of death-dealing automatons, which seek to push back the Tech-Priest incursion.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II also marks the video game debut of the Leagues of Votann, a faction whose intentions aren’t quite clear when we first encounter them.
The sequel’s tactical battles take place in zones ranging from labyrinthine Necron tombs to forge cities, introducing new environmental mechanics that can grant an advantage in combat.
At the strategic layer, capturing and defending regions ensures an influx of resources crucial for our efforts.
Composer Guillaume David and Black Library author Ben Counter then help bring Mechanicus 2’s grimdark fiction to life.
