Publisher Deep Silver and developer King Art Games have announced, during today’s Warhammer Skulls 2026 showcase, that highly anticipated real-time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV has locked in its release date to September 17, 2026.
The title’s robust launch offering, which includes four factions, each with its own dedicated campaign, skirmish, and a Last Stand mode, will be further bolstered by free and paid additions coming as part of the RTS game’s first year of post-launch support.

As far as the free additions that make up Dawn of War IV’s first year of post-launch support go, we can expect Crusade Mode alongside map packs, a mission editor, and new commanders for Last Stand.
In terms of paid post-launch content, a Blood Ravens-focused prologue sees the iconic Space Marine Chapter returning to their homeworld of Aurelia for a critical mission that “sets in motion events that will shape the fate of the Chapter.”
Perhaps more importantly, the real-time strategy game will also receive a new campaign expansion called Aftermath that introduces a mysterious fifth faction while “significantly” expanding Crusade Mode.
Pre-orders for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV’s standard and Commander editions are now live, both benefitting from a 10% discount. The latter includes an early access bonus, allowing owners to wage war across Kronus starting on September 14, as well as all paid year one content and a digital copy of the game’s original soundtrack.
“We at King Art Games are really excited to be part in this year’s Skulls Showcase with Dawn of War IV,” said Jan Theysen, co-founder and co-CEO of KING Art Games. “It’s a chance for us to see first-hand the reaction of Warhammer fans to our hard work and we can’t wait for the game to be in players’ hands later this year.”
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is slated to release on September 17, 2026, when it arrives on PC via Steam.
