The sheer amount of choice in terms of skills, talents, and abilities for both companions and custom followers can be overwhelming regardless if you're a newbie or a veteran of the tabletop. Thankfully, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader allows you to respec characters from its the first hours of its campaign, offering a good amount of room for trial and error.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Respec
In order to respec characters in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, you'll need to progress through the game's introductory sequence until you're introduced to several vital NPCs on your voidship's bridge.
Afterwards, you'll want to talk to High Factotum Janris Danrok. He waits a few steps to the northwest of the Koronus Expanse Map that's also located on the Voidship's bridge.
If you're having a hard time finding him, check your in-game area map, since his position is marked on it. Once you're near him, initiate a conversation and select the option that reads "My retinue and I are in need of training."
This brings up a menu which houses the portraits of all named companions and custom followers that have ranks spent in their respective archetypes.
Select the character whose progress you want to completely reset and press the Accept button when the prompt asks if you're certain of your decision.
This refunds their spent ranks, making them available to redistribute as you see fit, whether that's trying out a different build flavor or fine-tuning their existing one.
Their base class and any other element, like homeworld or origin, cannot be changed in this manner.
Initially, this action is free. Later on, you will need to spend Profit Factor, one of several resources the game asks you to juggle, in order to keep retraining your party members.
