Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s Return to the Reik map release date celebrates ten years of Fatshark’s franchise reliably sating our thirst for Skaven slaughter by allowing us to cut ratmen to pieces in a setting that will prove familiar to series veterans.
A reimagined version of one of the most popular levels in the original Vermintide, The River Reik, this mission sees the Ubersreik Five crashing into the riverbank, eliminating Skaven along the shore and through caverns, before sailing on a ship that, sooner rather than later, has its own rat problems.

Yet, given how seven years have passed since the heroes last visited the area, “much has changed,” so it certainly sounds like Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s Return to the Reik release date should deliver some surprises. The free map is slated to go live on November 20, 2025.

“Players familiar with the original will recognize a lot of it, but we also added more side paths, redid the terrain on various areas, added more encounters, and overall updated the level to represent the years that had passed since our last visit,” the developer explained in a blog dedicated to the upcoming free map.
The Skaven are also joined by Chaos warriors in Vermintide 2’s Return to the Reik map. Furthermore, the ship section is also present, also allowing us to use cannons to fend off Skaven and Rotblood alike, with “mid-sail combat [featuring] more prominently.”
Better yet, Fatshark has confirmed that “this won’t be the last map we make, and that we’re already looking into what can come next in the adventures of the Ubersreik Five,” which is exciting news, especially since Darktide is also gaining momentum.
That covers what you need to know about Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s Return to the Reik release date.
