With Winds of Magic let loose in the wild, developer Fatshark has outlined its plans for Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s upcoming Season 2. Players can expect free maps, an in-game shop, changes to quickplay Weaves and more.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2’s current season will end with the Geheimnisnacht event, which celebrates Halloween. Season 2 is then set to kick off at some point before the end of the year, although no specific release date was mentioned just yet.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Season 2 Details
In Season 2, all owners of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will be treated to three free reworked maps from the original Vermintide’s Drachenfels DLC. A first map will go live when Season 2 kicks off, the other 2 arriving at later points in the Season.
Lohner’s Emporium of Wonders is another major part of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Season 2. The in-game shop will introduce cosmetic items on rotation. You’ll be able to purchase these items using a new currency, Shillings, which can be earned by completing weekly and daily quests or by owning one of the existing DLCs. Shillings will be rewarded retroactively to existing DLC owners.
On top of that, “a few select cosmetics” will be purchasable with real money, much like in the original Vermintide. Developer Fatshark has, however, reassured fans that they’ll find more cosmetics purchasable with Shillings than with real money.
All your Athanor progress will carry over into Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Season 2 and you’ll be able to play any ranked Weave between levels 1 and 40, up to Legend difficulty, from the very start of the season. Owners of the Winds of Magic expansion will also be able to enter quickplay queues for unranked Weaves by selecting their desired difficulty, which should make for better accessibility for the mode.
Lastly, Essence is also seeing some changes. The first time completion bonus from Ranked Weaves will be removed, but the base amount rewarded for playing them will see an increase. Quickplay Weaves will also grant bonus Essence. You can check out the full blog post, and provide feedback, over on the Fatshark forums.
