What Remains of Edith Finch will be the third free game offered to users of the Epic Games Store. Giant Sparrow’s narrative-driven adventure title will become available at no cost starting with January 10, when the currently ongoing offer to get Super Meat Boy for free expires.
The Epic Games Store will give away one free game every two weeks for the remainder of 2019. By all accounts, Epic started strong with these giveaways. Things kicked off with the excellent survival game Subnautica earlier last month which, just like Super Meat Boy and What Remained of Edith Finch, was highly acclaimed.
In case you missed it, the Epic Games Store went live last month and has drawn a handful of exclusives to it, like Supergiant’s Early Access version of Hades, or the upcoming shark ARPG Maneater. We’ve a handy list of all Epic Games Store exclusives you can check out.
Developers choosing Epic’s storefront will receive 88% of the revenue. While the offering is currently slim, overtime the storefront could grow into valid competition for Steam.
It’s not that surprising seeing What Remains of Edith Finch as one of the games being given away for free. Publisher Annapurna Interactive has released Ashen exclusively on Epic’s digital storefront and will also release Outer Wilds and a PC port of Journey there as well.
