What is the best source of water in the early game of Dune: Awakening? In the unforgiving desert of Arrakis, where every grain of sand hides death, water is the most precious currency; it is life itself.
In the early game of Dune: Awakening, you’ll mostly rely on dew plants and extracting water from blood back at your shelter. But since you won’t always be at your base, that limits how much water you have. That’s where the Literjon comes in—a personal water container that lets you store purified water from cisterns or blood purifiers and drink it on the go.
While Literjons aren’t available by default, there’s a unique and improved one you can get early if you’re willing to put in a bit of effort.
The unique Hajra Literjon Mk1 lets you carry up to 1500 ml of water, making it ideal for long trips through the desert. Paired with a stillsuit, you’ll be able to stay hydrated for days, like Bear Grylls, in a sense.
You need to unlock the Fabricator in the story to be able to craft this piece of kit, and it stays useful through the late game.
Where to find the schematic for Hajra Literjon Mk1
Getting to this schematic takes a tiny bit of climbing—oh, about a hundred feet or so on a sheer cliff. The schematics you’re looking for are at the top of a mesa in the southeast part of the Hagga Basin.
Don’t worry, it isn’t as steep as it looks.
We recommend approaching the cliff from the southeast—there are plenty of crevices to rest and recover stamina. Just be sure to stop often and watch your stamina so you don’t take the slow way up and the fast way down.
After clearing the scavengers, go to the northwest building of the outpost. Inside, a large chest holds some loot, 3–8 Spice-Infused Copper Dust, and schematics for a unique rifle.
Once you reach the top, head toward the crashed ornithopters. Near them, in a ruined shack, you’ll find a chest containing the schematics for your Literjon.
Oh, by the way, it might explode. Better late than never to mention that bit.
How to make Copper Ingots
Copper ingots are refined at a 1:1 ratio using a refinery. Copper is an extremely common ore found in the southern regions of Arrakis, usually appearing as sandstone chunks with vibrant blue veins. It can be mined using a Cutteray.
Where to find Micro-sandwich Fabric
Micro-sandwich Fabric can only be found in moisture-sealed caves scattered across Arrakis. They are marked as orange caves on the map/navigation bar.
To get inside, you’ll need to break the seal with a melee weapon. Inside, you’ll usually find a scavenger or two—and plenty of loot. Keep an eye out for chests containing EMF Generators and Micro-sandwich Fabric.
These chests respawn every once in a while, but should be more than enough for the Literjon.
Where to find Spice Infused Copper Dust
One key component you’ll need for the Literjon is Spice-Infused Copper Dust. This can’t be crafted at a fabricator or found in the wreck, so you’ll have to source it elsewhere.
The most reliable way I’ve found to get a steady supply is from an outpost called Broken Stone Station, located in the southern part of the Basin. The only catch is more than a handful of hostile scavengers, so expect a fight.
After clearing the scavengers, go to the northwest building of the outpost. Inside, a large chest holds some loot, 3–8 Spice-Infused Copper Dust, and schematics for a unique rifle.
How to make the Hajra Literjon Mk1
The last step is to return to your shelter and select the Hajra Literjon Mk1 schematic. Use the option at the bottom right to unlock the crafting recipe. Once unlocked, you’ll find it under the “water discipline” category of the fabricator.
If you have a decent amount of water production and a stillsuit, you can go a surprising time without needing to return for more water. Just remember to stay out of the sun.
