World of Warcraft’s patch 11.1.7 release date is right around the corner. The Legacy of Arathor update promises a new slate of content to dig into alongside some notable UI changes that should make new player onboarding and learning new classes a tad bit easier without resorting to external addons.
Helping maintain the MMORPG’s steady content cadence, WoW’s patch 11.1.7, titled Legacy of Arathor, introduces a new Arathi Highlands campaign, Overcharged Delves that increase the challenge of The War Within’s new mode, while also adding Battle for Azeroth to Turbulent Timeways.

World of Warcraft: The War Within Patch 11.1.7 Content
WoW’s Legacy of Arathor update adds a new Arathi Highlands campaign, called Rise of the Red Dawn, that sees us joining Faerin, Danath, and Geya’rah as they “attempt to expose a conspiracy, defuse tensions, and grapple with the legacy of Arathor.” Completing it rewards the Lamplighter’s Pauldrons transmog alongside a Stormgarde (Alliance) and Hammerfal (Horde) tabard and title.
WoW’s patch 11.1.7 also sees Lorewalker Cho offering three new lorewalking storylines exploring the past of Xal’atath, the Ethereals, and the Lich King through previously existing quests and “a few new ones.” Cho waits for characters who’ve reached level 10 in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Dornogal.
Overcharged Delves then bring an even greater challenge to The War Within’s newest mode. Each day, two bountiful delves will have the Overcharged affix, marked on the map by an extra spark next to their icon.
A short quest line unlocks the customizable Durable Information Storage Container belt, which helps us progress through Overcharged Delve tiers while chasing their associated mount and toy.
World of Warcraft’s patch 11.1.7 release date also introduces the assisted highlight and single-button assistant UI features. These options provide an avenue of learning new classes or getting reacquainted with parked alts without resorting to external addons.
Assisted Highlight suggests which ability to use next “based on resources and the situation your character is in.” The Single-Button Assistant takes things even further, enabling the press of a single button to cast the next recommended ability. This removes the need to keep constant track of your ability bar at the cost of a slightly bigger global cooldown.
A dedicated blog post was published before the release of the Legacy of Arathor update, delving deeper into these two features which have proven somewhat divisive among players.
Finally, WoW’s patch 11.1.7 sees Battle for Azeroth joining the Turbulent Timeways weekly rotation, adding six new dungeons to the pool: Atal’Dazar, Freehold, King’s Rest, Shrine of the Storm, Temple of Sethraliss, and Waycrest Manor. Here is the weekly schedule, starting on June 17.
- Week 1: Battle for Azeroth
- Week 2: Mists of Pandaria
- Week 3: Burning Crusade
- Week 4: Warlords of Draenor
- Week 5: Legion
- Week 6: Classic
- Week 7: Battle for Azeroth
