An intrepid modder has gone out of their way to take all of the voice files from the original release of Resident Evil and create a new mod for the HD remake that uses all of the original laughably terrible voice acting. It has only recently been completed and released on a Resident Evil modding forum.

Division 1 is the cool, special ops name for the development team at Capcom responsible for coming up with new Resident Evil games. According to a financial report spotlighted by Polygon, however, that's not their focus just at the moment. Instead, the team is focusing on the potential of virtual reality technology and its applications for gaming. In the report Capcom claims VR gaming is "the hottest market right now."
has released five minutes of gameplay footage from its [url=http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2015-15-09-capcom-announces-competitive-multiplayer-shooter-umbrella-corps-set-in-the-resident-evil-universe]recently announced multiplayer shooter spin-off, Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, narrated as an eSports event and played by members of the development team. I'm trying to be positive about this, so here goes; I sort of like the way the teams are fighting it out in amongst a bunch of shambling zombies, who occasionally much on unsuspecting players.
Resident Evil 6 was a load of old rubbish, but that doesn't mean that fans of the survival horror series (now more of an action series, really) aren't interested to see what's in store for Resident Evil 7. Series producer Masachika Kawata spoke to Dengeki Playstation recently (thanks, Siliconera), and promised that the team are almost ready to start discussing the next game.
Capcom has announced the next Resident Evil game, and it's an online competitive shooter called Umbrella Corps. Just... what... everybody....wanted. Right? "Utilize distinct weaponry and a precise, analog cover system to fight head-to-head with other players in fast, intense online matches," says Capcom. A brand new trailer gives us some idea of how that plays out.
The upcoming Resident Evil 0 Remaster will contain a new Wesker Mode which allows players to experience the events leading up to the main game from the viewpoint of everyone's favourite sunglasses-wearing, B-movie supervillain, Albert Wesker. Now, I've sort of lost track of what the deal is with Wesker at this point - he evolved from husky-voiced traitor to leather-clad Neo wannabe in the course of three or four games - but I do know, thanks to some recently released screenshots, that this game's version can shoot laser beams out of his eyes. Why not?
It was almost inevitable as soon as Capcom revealed that it was developing a remake of its own, but InvaderGames has cancelled its fan-made project Resident Evil 2 Reborn. The team had been working on Reborn for over a year, but all that hard work hasn't gone to waste. Though Capcom asked them to remove the mod, this was far from your usual cease and desist order.
Capcom has announced that its remaking classic survivor horror sequel Resident Evil 2. I am currently performing the dance of joy, because skipping off school on a Friday to play Resi 2 all day was one of my formative gaming experiences. The company hasn't lifted the lid on exactly what fans can expect from the remake, but I would think it's a safe bet that we're looking a total overhaul in the style of the Resident Evil HD Remake. Or they could announce that it's a pinball spin-off if they wanted literal riots on the streets.
The Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition sort of... wasn't, really. It was still Resi 4, of course, and therefore brilliant, but PC players who had been hoping to experience Capcom's action horror classic in the best way possible were left slightly underwhelmed by some fairly muddy texture work. Leave it to the fans to sort things out. Two plucky modders simply known as Cris and Albert have been revising and polishing the game's graphics for the Resident Evil 4 HD Project. They're about 50% done right now, but as this trailer shows, things are looking good.
With the Resident Evil Remake recently popping back up in shiny new HD format, and mod team Invader Games doing a fantastic job with fan project Resident Evil 2: Reborn (video below), it's not surprising that Capcom's weighing up its options concerning an official remake of that classic second entry in the long-running survival horror franchise. In fact, the company's research team has taken to Facebook to ask fans their "honest and frank opinion" about the possibility of remaking Resident Evil 2.
Here's your first look at in-game footage from the remastered version of Resident Evil Zero that Capcom's planning to released in early 2016. Expect super-sharp static backgrounds, and lots of satisfying 'plop' sounds every time a zombie's head goes missing. Capcom's also released a number of new screenshots alongside the trailer. If you loved last year's Resident Evil HD Remake, you should be getting a similarly sweet slice of nostalgia from this.
After the success of the excellent Resident Evil HD Remaster earlier this year, it's not that surprising to see Capcom announce a similar remake of prequel Resident Evil Zero.
No, this one's definitely (probably) not a tedious, teeth-grindingly awful April Fools joke - Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has finally received a patch that allows you to play Raid mode online. The score attack mode was restricted to offline only at launch, but Capcom promised last month that they would be updating the game to allow online play.
Folks who have been pining after a bit of online co-operative mayhem in Capcom's Resident Evil Revelations 2 have just had their day made, as Capcom has today announced that online co-op support for the game will arrive at the end of the month. Provisionally set to go-live on March 31st, the update will roll out after all the episodes have been released.
Rejoice everybody! Though a plucky modder actually managed to beat them to it, Capcom has finally added local co-op to the PC version of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Revelations 2 supports split-screen local co-op in both campaign and raid mode, and though the update containing the fix is only available in beta form right now, everyone can download it.
The saga of the missing Resident Evil: Revelations 2 PC co-op mode continues, fortunately with a slightly more positive twist this time. A modder known only as Fluffyquack (I like to think that's his real name) has added offline co-op support to the game's first episode.
PC players who bought survival horror Resident Evil: Revelations 2 when it launched earlier this week were disappointed to discover than offline co-op play had been cut out from their version of the game. Now publisher Capcom has issued an apology, explaining that they the feature was never intended to be in the PC version, and that this was mistakenly omitted from the Steam product page until the last minute.
Players who bought the PC version of Capcom's recently released survival horror Resident Evil: Revelations 2 have discovered that their chosen platform doesn’t support offline co-op. Capcom never said anything about the PC version lacking the feature before launch, which has understandably angered fans. The game's Steam listing still marks out offline co-op as a feature, but an addendum underneath clarifies that the "PC version does not support offline co-op play in the Campaign or Raid Mode."
Now that Capcom territories don't need everything signed off on by Capcom Japan, there's a buzz of excitement and optimism back among the various offices and studios. Capcom UK now has their "fate in our hands." They can start making better autonomous decisions, and the new Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is the publisher entering "uncharted territory" as it goes episodic with 'appetite strong' for the full boxed version.
Eventually Capcom might get around to remastering the peerless survival horror of Resident Evil 2, but until that happens we've got the fine work of modder Rod Lima to look forward to. Lima's work is pretty impressive; he's taken models and model animations from Capcom's original game and updated them using Epic’s free Unreal 3 Development Kit.
