Ben Fritz, Variety's video game reporter and reviews editor has offered his own two-cents after EA's Riccitiello commented on games starting to rival the movie industry. Fritz feels it's "misguided if not totally wrong" that gaming doesn't really need the silver-screen anymore.

Uwe Boll to direct... just kidding. They have an actual talent behind the project, Mr Gore Verbinski, the man responsible for the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy and The Ring. Verbinski is reportedly very excited about BioShock, he says it's "just brimming with cinematic potential".

The game is set to come with all the trimmings that DLC have already offered to the BioShock community so no real surprise there. Still the PS3 version may have a trick up its sleeve and could in fact seem some graphical improvements, though not by much. Could it be Home integrated too?
Strauss Zelnick has commented during the company's conference call to investors that the film adaption would hit cinemas around BioShock's third instalment. Asked by an analyst whether they retain creative control over the movie project, Zelnick dodged a direct reply and added T2 was financially safe from its development.

2K and BioShock's Ken Levine has said the movie isn't going to be some daft and loose association with the game - that Hollywood's Gore Verbinski "gets" BioShock. Levine said they "certainly understand the material" and should have no troubles leaving a "stamp of their own." The flick is slated for 2010, partly due to Take-Two's Zelnick.

The critically acclaimed shooter is almost finally in the hands of PS3 gamers. This BioShock will feature all the DLC already available but also 'challenge rooms'. This port was no small operation with 2K Marin, 2K Boston, 2K Australia and outsider Digital Extremes all pulling the strings. BioShock 2 is expected fall next year.
That publisher, you know - the one holding Rockstar's coin purse? Well they've announced that next fiscal year will be chuck full of T2 goodness. November 1st hails in fiscal 2009 so keep your eyes peeled any time after that. Oh and they'll be publishing the heck out of more "Nick Junior products" too. w00t!
