About 40% of Command & Conquer players "go on and play online" News

EALA's Sean Decker has revealed that over a third of us enjoyed some multiplayer action from the latest Command & Conquer outing. However the "majority" stick with solo play. The studio boss acknowledges that while the next instalment requires the Internet, it won't achieve getting everyone online to play. They're trying to appeal to different motivations.

EA dates Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight News

EA announced today that Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight will be released on 19th March, 2010 in Europe. The story of Command & Conquer 4 takes place after the events of Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. The year is 2062 and humanity is at the brink of extinction. With only six years left until the mysterious crystalline structure Tiberium renders the earth entirely uninhabitable, the two opposing factions - Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod - inevitably find themselves in desperation for the same cause: to stop Tiberium from extinguishing mankind.

Tomb Raider: Underworld, C&C3 join XBL's Games on Demand News

Microsoft is soon to add Tomb Raider: Underworld and Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars to Xbox Live's Games on Demand catalogue. It happens June 29th in fact. Also listed are next week's Xbox Live deals and the arrival of Puzzle Quest 2 and Ancients of Ooga to the XBLA.

EA Games general manager Nick Earl reveals that a "pretty far out" new Command & Conquer title is in the works, and it's possibly under Visceral. Earl oversees EA's "action and strategy" group with Visceral Games now a full label, encompassing all their third-person action game projects.

Dead Space developer Visceral Games isn't working on the new "pretty far out" Command & Conquer, instead it's staying with EA's Los Angeles studio. C&C 4: Tiberian Twilight was EA LA's last series instalment, though it's unclear if the same team is involved in the new project, which is in its early stages.

Electronic Arts has announced that the Command & Conquer IP is now in the hands of newly formed developer Victory Games. The Command & Conquer team at EA have noticed their changes in C&C4: Tiberian Twilight didn't exactly go down a treat with fans, and so now ask for input. They say the "most discussed and loved ideas" will reach the development team. Hopefully they include more traditional base building, and less gimmicky units.

HaloRTS Mod Spotted News

Microsoft didn't release Halo Wars for the PC, but the closest thing to it could be a mod called HaloRTS created with the C&C 3: Tiberium Wars engine. The team have released a few screenshots that show some of the UNSC Forces that will be available in the mod.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is fairly early in development, but GSC Game World has announced that it would feature the dreaded "internet always on" DRM that has been inflicted on various games, like Assassin's Creed and Command & Conquer 4 in the past, and for the upcoming Diablo III.

A link has surfaced between BioWare's impending new game reveal and the Command & Conquer franchise as a Victory Games worker CV said they worked at a BioWare studio. Victory Games was created by EA to head up their strategy titles, and is said to be reviving Command & Conquer. The studio promised a reveal "later this year" - mere coincidence?
