GameWatcher looks at the cast of Firesprite’s Until Dawn 2 and the characters they’ll be playing.
Until Dawn was a game that prided itself on recreating a horror movie experience that you could essentially direct yourself to some degree. The cast, which included Oscar-winning Rami Malek, was essential to bringing the story to life and selling that horror movie feel.
So Until Dawn 2 looks to take the same route, employing some eye-catching names and putting them in a choose-your-own-horror-movie video game, this time on a sun-kissed island.
We don’t know too much about the characters just yet, but we do know some of the actors and their onscreen history, so let’s get into it.
Peter Stormare (Dr Alan J. Hill)
The only returning character from the first game is Dr Alan J. Hill, the psychiatrist who showed up in the interludes between chapters.
Playing him once again is Peter Stormare, a magnetic character actor best known for playing Gaer Grimsrud in the Coen Bros film Fargo, Satan in Constantine, and Abram in John Wick: Chapter 2. He even played this same part in the Until Dawn movie.
In video games, he’s voiced The Replacer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, a character he would also portray in a series of TV ad skits where he inserted himself into several popular shows. Stormare also voiced Arach Jalaal in Bungie’s Destiny 2.
Dacre Montgomery
We don’t know who exactly Montgomery is playing, but he appears to be the host of the Dead True paranormal investigation show.
Australian actor Dacre Montgomery is best known for playing Billy Hargrove in Netflix’s blockbuster horror series Stranger Things.
He has since starred in true-life hostage drama Dead Man’s Wire and the reimagining of controversial horror Faces of Death.
Neil Newbon (Sebastian)
Another character we know almost nothing about, apart from the fact that he seems to be an outsider to the Dead True group.
But the actor? We know plenty about him, especially in the world of video games.
Neil Newbon shot to video game stardom as the vampire Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3. Still, even before that, he’d turned up in prominent roles such as Resident Evil: Village’s Karl Heisenberg, Xenoblade Chronicles 3’s Zeon, and Alonso in Beyond a Steel Sky. Since Baldur’s Gate 3, he has appeared in Crimson Desert, Saros, and Bungie’s Marathon.
Before video games, Newbon had a recurring role in the UK soap opera Hollyoaks and appeared in other UK shows such as Holby City, Casualty, The Bill, Wycliffe, and football soap Dream Team.
Gavin Leatherwood (Luke)
Gavin’s character is Luke, one of the crew of Dead True. That’s about all we know so far!
Gavin Leatherwood is a Hawaii-born actor best known for playing Nicholas Scratch in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He also appears in body-swap comedy It’s What’s Inside.
Pop fans might also know him as Sabrina Carpenter’s boyfriend in the music video for the singer’s hit song Skin.
Tanner Buchanan
Tanner is playing another of the Dead True crew members.
If his face looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve seen him as Robby Keene in the Karate Kid spinoff series Cobra Kai or perhaps in the Kiefer Sutherland-starring political thriller series Designated Survivor.
He’s also shown up in shows such as Girl Meets World, The Fosters, Fuller House, and Star Wars: Visions.
Janina Gavankar
Janina’s character appears to be a stranger to the Dead True crew.
Janina Gavankar has been behind video game characters such as Agent Estevez in Alan Wake 2, Sinmara in God of War: Ragnarok, and Iden Versio in Star Wars: Battlefront 2.
She has also appeared in shows such as Will Trent and films like Borderlands.
Sarah Catherine Hook
Another unknown Dead True crew member.
Sarah Catherine Hook has been seen in shows such as The White Lotus as Piper Ratliff and Cruel Intentions as Caroline Merteuil. She can also be seen in NOS4A2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and People We Meet on Vacation.
Andie Ju
Another unknown for now.
Andie Ju is best known for playing Esther in the acclaimed Netflix series, Beef. She has also appeared in shows such as 9-1-1, Westworld, and Stargirl. She was last seen in the crime comedy film Forge.
Hannah Kepple (Josie)
Josie is one of the Dead True Crew.
Hannah Kepple is known for playing Moon in Cobra Kai, but has also starred in Just Beyond and Creepshow on television, and The Legend of Juan Jose Mundo in film.
Gia Kim
Another unknown member of the Dead True Crew.
Not much from Seoul-born Gia Kim beyond starring as Yuri in Netflix series XO, Kitty.
Raymond Lee
Yes, another currently unknown character.
But Raymond Lee will perhaps ring a bell if you saw him as Lt. Logan ‘Yale’ Lee in Top Gun: Maverick, Dr Ben Song in Quantum Leap or as Sam Park in Kevin Can Fk Himself**.
Lee has done work in video games before, providing voicework for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
Spence Moore II
Role Unknown.
Spencer Moore II is best known for his role as Chris Jackson in the TV series All American and as Dr Jacob Nash in Brilliant Minds. He also plays the teenage version of Damian Anderson in Creed 3.
Camila Senna
Another of the Dead True crew.
Brazilian-born actor Camila Senna hasn’t got the richest filmography just yet, having a full screen debut in 2023 TV movie Rooming With Danger.
If the surname made you wonder, yes, it appears Camila is related to the late F1 icon Ayrton Senna, as she is his cousin, but was only born a few months before the racing driver’s untimely demise.
