Michel Ancel, the designer behind Beyond Good and Evil and Rayman, recently sat down for a chat with fellow industry legend Tim Schafer as part of Double Fine’s “Devs Play” Youtube series. Ancel shares a lot of fascinating details about Beyond Good and Evil’s development, including one particularly bizarre story involving kidnapping, robbery, and public nudity.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been rumoured for years, but finally Ubisoft has that creator Michael Ancel is returning to the world of the cult action-adventure game.
The news comes after it was revealed that Ancel had formed his own studio, Wild Sheep Studio, despite remaining an employee of Ubisoft Montpellier.
Michel Ancel, creator of Beyond Good & Evil, has said now that the new consoles are "around the corner we're working on them," with Ubisoft figuring out how to squeeze them for all they're worth.
They are "still things we need to understand" on them, and admits he has Beyond Good & Evil 'always in mind'. He adds "it'd be painful" to bring out a new game on Xbox 360 and PS3.
UbiSoft is trying to quell rumors that Beyond Good & Evil developer Michel Ancel is not leaving the company, something that was spurred by Ancel's criticism of the decision to delay the Wii U version of Rayman Legends til the Fall to be released alongside the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of the game.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot insists that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, despite months even years of a lack of any proof. According to Guillemoth, series creator Michael Ancel has been busy with Rayman Legends.
