Legacy of Kain: Defiance Summary
Square Enix has confirmed the existence of something called Nosgoth, which isn't being handled by Tomb Raider's Crystal Dynamics. To avoid confusion, they reveal it's a multiplayer game set in the Kain universe.
It's very much on a "separate branch" from the Soul Reaver and Blood Omen series. Crystal are 'not working right now' on any Legacy of Kain project. Nosgoth will not be at E3.
Square Enix has registered the web domain 'WarForNosgoth.com', which quite clearly references the world of Nosgoth. That planet is in the center of strife between vampires, humans and other things.
Some concept pieces from a 'videogame animation pitch' have been found. They come from Passion Pictures artist Richard Buxton. There's plenty of timeline for war in Legacy of Kain.
The developer that managed to revive the once ailing Tomb Raider franchise is now taking a shot at Soul Reaver, sequel to 1996's Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on PlayStation.
Soul Reaver hit PlayStation and PC in 1999, and on Dreamcast in 2000. There were other sequels but now it seems Crystal Dynamics has been given the series to play with.
Square Enix appear to be mulling over a revival for Legacy of Kain as a survey is doing the rounds asking which of four subtitled names sounds best?
Would they 'feel right' tagged on to any existing names already used, was another. Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain released back in 1997 on PSOne.
