The next two weeks of Xbox Live Marketplace is meatier that it has been this Summer, as not only does the Summer of Arcade conclude with Hybrid and Dust: An Elysian Tail, but some of the biggest downloadable content will be landing. The DLC includes the Cold Stream DLC for Left 4 Dead 2, the Firefight Pack for Mass Effect 3, the third DLC pack for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as well as some Quantum Conundrum content and an online multiplayer upgrade for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World.
Impulse, the digital distributor now owned by videogame retailer GameStop, has announced that select Valve titles will now be available for purchase on the service.
Valve's Gabe Newell is hopeful Microsoft will notice it's a "good strategy for making customers happy" if they open Xbox Live to developers and their content more.
The difficulty is getting Microsoft "comfortable with it" - PS3 Valve customers will "see the benefits" of Steamworks this September with Portal 2's planned DLC.
Valve boss Gabe Newell says Sony should open up the PlayStation 3, much like the Mac has done, which Steam has recently expanded onto.
They need to focus on platforms that do "a better job" of looking where Valve want to be in years to come. It would be easier to invest in PS3 if open.
