The Witcher videogames, based on the book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, have made the property hot enough that The Sean Daniel Company is preparing to produce a full length Witcher film. It will be directed by Oscar nominated director Tomasz BagiƄski.

Artwork update believed to confirm return of 'dearly missed' Shani in The Witcher 3's Hearts of Stone expansion

Seemingly good news for those campaigning for the return of Shani, the red-haired medic from the original Witcher RPG. An updated artwork for the expansions seems to include Shani quite prominently.

CD Projekt RED has teased before that "new and dearly missed" characters will be turning up in the expansions. The studio refuses to confirm whether it's her saying they'll "leave that for the community to figure out."

Kickstarter for The Bard's Tale IV over 50% funded in "just 11 hours"

Brian Fargo and inXile Entertainment have already blown past 50% of the funds they're asking for with The Bard's Tale IV Kickstarter. Right now it stands over $800k from almost 19k backers.

The goal is $1.25 million to get this classic dungeon crawler series back in action, and inXile will be matching at least $1.25 million of their own money on the project. The team will be showing "engine footage" in the near future.

Brian Fargo and his studio inXile Entertainment will be going live with their Kickstarter campaign tomorrow - June 2nd - for The Bard's Tale IV. It's a return to the classic RPG series and its entire dungeon-crawling heritage.

To sweeten the pot, inXile will be throwing in a free copy of Wasteland 2 should anyone pledge $20 or more. If you don't want a slice of post-apocalyptic CRPG then you can choose The Witcher or The Witcher 2.

The Witcher was originally meant to be an isometric action RPG

The first Witcher game, which debuted back in 2007, was initially conceived as a top-down action RPG in the traditional Diablo style, the game's project lead Ryszard Chojnowski has revealed.

In the first part of an ongoing Youtube video series that explores the origins of the game, Chojnowski shows off some footage from an early isometric version that was created in 2002.
