Crytek bringing winter to Warface in new co-op setting 'Operation Cold Peak'

Free-to-play shooter Warface from Crysis creator Crytek is going to feel the chill as a new Siberian backdrop is added. Operation Cold Peak features a secluded stronghold high in the Altai Mountains.

Three new maps and "powerful new bosses" await in this snowy tundra. A teaser for the new co-op setting has been released with it due out soon. The last update was the Nevada Versus map pack.

Warface: Nevada Storm update adds new maps and various gameplay and performance fixes

Crytek’s free-to-play online shooter Warface has received a new update, titled Nevada Storm. It adds three new maps, as well as various improvements to gameplay.

The new maps take place (you guessed it) in Nevada. 'Airbase' and 'Streetwars' are straightforward Team Deathmatch levels, while 'Quarry' offers a new Capture the Flag venue.

Crytek's free-to-play shooter Warface now live in Europe and US

Online browser title Warface from Crytek is officially launched in Europe and North America, using the studio's new social platform GFACE. It's a free-to-play first-person shooter powered by CryEngine 3.

It's a "constantly updated" universe that Crytek has in mind with Warface, with class-based FPS PvP and co-op missions. Crytek want to prove F2P can be "top quality, blockbuster experiences".

The tyranny of the beta period for Warface is nearly at an end with the F2P shooter going officially live next week, October 21st. It's already in full swing over in Russia and China, leaving just us Westerners behind.

To mark the occasion Crytek have released a teaser trailer for Warface's big push. It's got running, gunning and briefcase holding - everything you could want.

Crytek has to adjust for "different level of 'fair'" with Warface across regions

Speaking with Joshua Howard, executive producer for Warface, we learn that not all's 'fair' in war when it comes to regional expectations. The team have to adjust game balance for each market, like in Russia.

That doesn't mean Warface is unrecognisable in pace when you skip over regions, but the Crytek team had to "appreciate that 'fair' means different things" to the various camps.
