X Rebirth Summary
has released version 3.0 of the rather... underwhelmingly received X: Rebirth, adding a bunch of new features and improvements.
It's also released a free DLC pack, The Teladi Outpost, which brings new missions and a whole new star system containing two unique sectors, along with an arsenal of new gear for your ship.
Space sim X-Rebirth is now at version 2.0 as developer Egosoft launch 'X Rebirth 2.0 - Secret Service Missions' which adds a new plot chain and membership to the Argon Federation secret service.
More importantly is the slew of tweaks to the game, including an autopilot, new ship commands, a "massive overhaul" to game balancing, new start locations and more.
Developer Egosoft has released details on the changes made and in the works to X-Rebirth, which include numerous optimisations in gameplay so there's less time running around a headless space chicken.
They'll also be releasing tools soon for Steam Workshop integration, as they want modders to have a much easier time spreading their works. Also working on next 64-bit executable.
It wouldn't be an X game without a bug-ridden launch, and Egosoft has apologized in the Steam forums for X Rebirth's problems, with a promise to get the game patched as soon as possible.
The X series returns tomorrow with X Rebirth, the first full game in the series since 2008's X 3: Terran Conflict, itself a standalone expansion for 2005's X 3: Reunion.
