April 1st 2012 is the official start date of EA’s FY2013. The now removed information revealed Funcom’s The Secret World, Insomniac’s Overstrike, Populous, Outernauts and Respawn.
It was a NeoGAF user who claimed a protected wiki page belonging to EA Partners gave up the goods, but it has since been pulled down. Is Populous really set to return?
Funcom’s The Secret World and Insomniac’s Overstrike are both EA Partner titles. Populous was created by Peter Molyneux and Bullfrog Productions, and revolved around a shaman avatar that could manipulate the game world and nurture a powerful tribe. The aim was to obtain godhood and stop rival shamans.
Bullfrog IP has already been given an airing with Starbreeze Studios rebooting Syndicate, which is due out the end of this month. Insomniac Games registered the domain ‘Outernauts’ and so it appears they’ll be using EA Partners’ services for another project.
Respawn is most definitely referring to Respawn Entertainment, which is made up of former Infinity Ward talent - namely West and Zampella, after they fled Activision. The site hasn’t been confirmed as real.
If true, how would you like Populous to return? Could it just be a HD re-release?
