Meteor Entertainment has announced that the publisher has raised an addition $18M for the mech shooter, Hawken. This was accomplished by bringing in Chinese company KongZhong and Rusic Canyon Ventures, who plan to get the game published in China.
Hawken has raised $28.5M in total funds.
According to Rustic Canyon managing partner Nate Redmond stated, "It doesn’t take a $50 million or $100 million budget to do this. You can now invest more heavily after the game launches and you see how it is a success and the game mechanics are working properly. We look at a lot of possible game investments. It continues to be one of the most interesting sectors of digital media."
Hawken will be released as a free-to-play title on the 12th December.
