Balls! Kicking them around the pitch on FIFA 14 won't be as lovely on PC I'm afraid as EA community manager Rob Hodson confirms the desktop version will use the current engine found in FIFA 13. The new fancy Ignite engine that EA Sports gave a glimpse to yesterday is reserved for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Fans are naturally upset especially as the consoles and PC are closer than ever. Having very PC-like architectures count for nothing with FIFA 14 it seems, as EA Sports aren't committing the resources yet to Ignite the series beyond the next-gen machines. “Clarification for the PC related questions earlier – EA SPORTS IGNITE will power FIFA 14 on Xbox One and PS4, not PC," tweeted Rob Hodson. For a long time PC FIFA fans had to endure falling behind the engine techs of the Xbox 360 and PS3 and only recently caught up, but now they're leaping frogging away - again. FIFA 14 releases on Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4 and PC this September. |
