Blizzard has announced in a blog post that the public beta test for its upcoming expansion World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor is now live.
”Over the course of the test,” write Blizzard, ”we’ll be inviting community veterans, press, fansites, friends and family, and opt-in beta testers to participate.”
This first beta phase will focus on the Tanaan Jungle starting zone, with future phases taking the action further afield. Should you be lucky enough to receive an invite, you can either copy your own level-90 character over or use one of Blizzard’s pre-gen templates.
Refreshingly, Blizzard aren’t attempting to plug the ocean of inevitable leaks with an NDA agreement.
“As there’s no NDA (non-disclosure agreement) for the Warlords of Draenor beta test, those invited to play are free to take screenshots and movies or stream game content. Please keep in mind that the expansion is still in development—we’ll be making changes to the game as the beta evolves, and what you’ll see during the beta test is not necessarily representative of the final game.”
Players selected to participate in the beta will receive an email with a link to download the beta client. Blizzard warn players to check their Battle.net accounts to make sure they’ve legitimately been given access to the beta in order to avoid phishing attempts.
Coming this year, Warlords of Draenor takes players back in time to witness key moments in Warcraft lore. Alongside a new 100-level cap and upgraded visuals, the game will add customisable Garrisons, which will function as your character’s home base for the new expansion.
