Company of Heroes 2, the much beloved World War II era military real-time strategy game from Sega, is getting an overhaul as it rolls out its December patch. Players are in for new units, commanders, intel, and general quality tweaks for the game.
The largest change is the addition of the two new commanders, one for the Allies and one for the Oberkommando West, which are detailed here. The Allied Tactical Support Company features tools to offer long-range and close-range support while you set up your major attacks, whereas the OKW Overwatch Doctrine specializes in tools that offer defensive and early-warning countermeasures for protecting friendly or captured territory.
Leaderboard access is also getting upgraded. Players will be able to access the leaderboards in-game now via the Player Card and Automatch lobby. Players can now check their levels, leaderboard rankings, and win/loss ratios from inside the game. One of the final major changes is that vehicles are getting a major pathfinding improvement. For instance, when giving an order to a vehicle to move behind itself at short distances, it would turn all the way around and move to the spot. Under the new changes, vehicles will instead drive in reverse at short distances, keeping their weapons trained forward and protecting them from unnecessary vulnerability.
Besides these major changes, there are a multitude of balances, tweaks, buffs, and nerfs coming to single-player and multiplayer games. Check the full patch notes here.
The December patch is out tomorrow, December 3rd. Servers for Company of Heroes 2[/url] will be down for 2 to 4 hours, as per notification from the site while the patch is implemented, the exact time of server downtime will be announced soon.
