Capcom has been making waves with Resident Evil 7 as of late. Easily the most different direction the series has taken in years, the VR enabled and somewhat Silent Hill: P.T. inspired new take on Resident Evil is looking set to inject new scares and fear into Capcom’s flagship horror franchise. Though PlayStation 4 users have gotten the most out of the latest updates on the game’s progress, Capcom confirmed today that they haven’t forgotten about PC and Xbox users and pre-order availability for both platforms is fast approaching.
Capcom made this announcement via a press release today. An update to the demo, named “Twilight”, has been released alongside a new trailer that will give players better context as to what exactly is going in the creepy setting that has been presented thus far. Though the demo still remains exclusive to PlayStation players, the press release also offered news that Xbox One and PC players will be able to pre-order the game “in the coming weeks.”
Right now, the PlayStation 4 pre-orders feature a Standard Edition, Day-1 Survival Edition and Deluxe Edition. The Standard Edition is priced at €64.99 / £49.99. Players will pay €69.99/ £52.99 for a Day-1 Survival Edition, which includes the Survival Pack: Recovery Set, offering consumable healing items, an early unlock of the insanely difficult Madhouse mode, and the Lucky Coin in-game item. The Deluxe Edition is priced at €94.99/ £69.99 and will include all the content from the Day-1 Survival Edition as well as a Season Pass containing access to three additional playable story episodes which will be launching after the title’s release. Each of these packages can probably be expected in similar form and price on PC and Xbox as well when pre-orders open.
The newest trailer introduces players to the rather creepy Baker family. We get a glimpse of our protagonist, known only as “Ethan” is hunted down relentlessly by a rather resilient old man, before becoming a rather unwilling participant of a pretty horrible looking dinner party. The full trailer can be seen below.
Resident Evil 7 is due for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on the 24th of January, 2017 across North America and Europe.
