This French-made blissfully emotional RPG is heading to Kickstarter for some much needed cash injection.
Light Fairytale is an episodic JRPG looking to be taking ques from classic titles - specifically Final Fantasy VII and Breath of Fire V - whilst also looking strikingly similar to Square Enix's own chibi-fueled World of Final Fantasy. Created by the one-man army over at neko.works, the project is as ambitious as it is creative.
Set in a 'Dying Underground World' it's likely we won't be seeing any lush magical forests or tall, dragon-ruled mountains in the cutesy turn-based JRPG, but from the soft music and mysterious setting, we're certainly due a kick in the feels at one point or another.
The story begins with Haru dreaming of exactly what he shouldn't be seeing through an underground city - green fields and a wide-open sky. Now somewhat aware of what waits above his dark society, he embarks on a quest to crack the mysteries of the world around him.
Heading for a staggered July 2017 release, Light Fairytale takes the form of an episodic adventure similar to Square's own take on the Final Fantasy VII remake. There's already a demo available here, with the Kickstarter project (including tiered rewards and a discounted soundtrack) still having a ways to go. You can reach that through this link.
