If you thought Lionhead were just trying to create Fable Legends, you were mistaken. This is great news for you Fable fans out there who will be happy to know the developers were also creating a card game. Unfortunately, this card game is not complete, however Flaming Fowl Studios may be able to bring the game to life with the help of supporters on Kickstarter. Revealed by IGN, Flaming Fowl Studios introduces Fable Fortune.
Flaming Fowl Studios are indie developers, co-founded by ex-Lionhead developers Craig Oman, Marcus Lynn and Mike West. Flaming Fowl Studios are planning to finish creating Fable Fortune (the name of the Fable card game). Microsoft has given the indie developers the ability to use the Fable license, but they will not fund or publish the game, hence the Kickstarter project.
The developers say Fable Fortune will be familiar to those who have played games similar to Hearthstone. There are eight heroes, each with their own decks who must battle to reduce their opponent’s health to zero. Players will use their cards to attack their opponents with a variety of spell types.
“I think this is something that Fable fans are going to enjoy,” says Oman in an interview with IGN. “We’re definitely very keen to keep giving them new and interesting things. We have the ability to add new creatures and characters to this game and the world of Albion. I think we can certainly give them that Fable fix that they’ll be looking for. If you want a Fable game, at the moment, this is your Fable game.”
Flaming Fowl Studios expects the closed beta of Fable Fortune to begin within a few weeks of the campaign. The open beta is scheduled to start around October for PC and Xbox One, with the full release planning to come out around early 2017.
