GTA "strong franchise" without yearly hits, GTAV likely beyond 2010

Take-Two has slapped Rockstar Games and the Grand Theft Auto series on the back, touting how powerful it is without yearly releases.

This has cast big doubt over the next major GTA instalment retailing next year, now that Grand Theft Auto IV has ‘ended’ with its latest DLC.

Thanks to The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, GTAIV was able to print even more money for publisher Take-Two and developer Rockstar. They’ve already revealed the script for the next GTA is to be mega huge, but they don’t have a setting yet.

Recently the score composer for Bully, Rockstar’s delightful schoolyard bruiser, outed his work on Bully 2. Rockstar have also got Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption in the works. Grand Theft Auto V, if that’s to be the next instalment, might arrive in 2011.
