US Judge sides with Interplay, Bethesda injunction is slapped down

Bethesda isn’t happy with previous Fallout owner Interplay, and tried to get them all tangled up in US law. Interplay though won the case.

What does that mean? Interplay can now keep selling the original Fallout titles and continue work on ‘Project V13’, the Fallout MMO. Justice!

Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics can still be on retailer shelves now with the Interplay name stuck on the box with pride. ”I love justice!” twittered Eric Caen, brother to Interplay boss Herve Caen, reports GamesIndustry.biz.

It all started when Bethesda threw teddy in the corner because Interplay hadn’t consulted them on the packaging design for the Fallout Trilogy compilation. This meant, according to Bethesda lawyers, that Interplay had violated the licensing agreement.

They said the Trilogy would confuse consumers regarding their own Fallout 3, but it looks like the US Judge doesn’t think us gamers are morons after all. Bethesda has also moaned over ‘Project V13’ and its lack of progress, saying it should revert to them.

Has justice been done here?
